🎯 Map Overview
Gyoen is a stub-end terminal with platforms on two levels, above ground and below. It is the terminus of the Shin-Shonan Railway, so every train that arrives turns back here. A smaller station, Minami-Gyoen, sits just outside; every train in and out of Gyoen passes through it.
- Gyoen: surface Tracks 2, 4, 5 / underground Tracks 8, 9 (five in total)
- Minami-Gyoen: Tracks 1 and 2. No departure signal needed — trains pass or call and continue automatically
- Every train turns back. There are no stub tracks; trains leave from the platform they arrived on
- The two levels have separate approaches and separate exits. They only merge just before Minami-Gyoen

Gyoen's platforms are split across two levels, and which level you use changes every route involved. Read the track number on the departure board first and decide surface or underground before anything else.

🔄 Turning Trains Back
Every train at Gyoen turns back. Because no stub track is involved, the procedure is short.

Check the arrival track on the board
Surface (2, 4, 5) or underground (8, 9) determines every route that follows.

Set the first home route
11J for the surface, 11I for underground.

Set the second home route into the platform
12A / 12B / 12C for the surface, 13D / 13E for underground.

Set both departure routes and press the button
The platform route (1F–5G) plus 6H (surface) or 7H (underground).
⚠ Common Mistakes
1. Forgetting the second route
Both arrivals and departures here come in pairs. Set 11I or 11J and forget the second home route, and the train stops short of Gyoen. The same applies on the way out: forget 6H or 7H and it stops just past the platform.
2. Confusing the two levels
Setting the surface route 11J for a Track 8 or 9 service is a common slip. Remember that the single-digit low numbers (2, 4, 5) are on the surface and 8 and 9 are underground.
3. Turnbacks jamming at peak
In the morning and evening peaks all five platforms fill up. Hold a departure and there is nowhere to put the next arrival. Before setting an arrival route, check that the train already on that platform has left.
